How To Apply Tax To Products

In Convertri, you can now add sales tax to your products.

You set up a tax in the cart section of Convertri. So to do this:

1. Go to the ‘Cart’ section of Convertri. 
2. Select the ‘Tax’ option from the left hand menu.
3. To create your tax click on the blue ‘New Tax’ button. This will bring up the tax creation menu. 
4. Then you can name your tax, it’s a good idea to give it an appropriate name as you might end up creating multiple taxes.
5. Then you can choose your tax rates for each region. You can apply a different amount of tax for different regions. For example, you could set the tax for people in Alaska to be 10% but in Arizona only 5%. This tax will then be applied to your product as an extra charge.

The tax can then be applied to a specific product or product group. To do this:

1. Go to products, in the left hand menu of the ‘Cart’ section of Convertri. 
2. Then select the product you wish to apply the tax to – or create one if you haven’t already. 
3. Then select ‘tax’ from the left hand side of the edit product screen.
4. From here you can toggle tax on by clicking the ‘Add Tax’ toggle so it turns blue, this means a tax has been added.
5. Then click the ‘Choose Tax’ dropdown and select which tax you won’t to apply from all of the taxes you have created.
6. When you have selected your tax, click ‘Save’.

After you have set up your tax, simply add your product to your page and your tax will be applied to your product when your customer goes to the checkout screen.

Then, as you can see below, the tax has been added to the product as an additional charge.

In this case the tax is 30% so it has added 30% of the original cost to the order total.

You can view how much tax has been paid on your products on the order details section of Convertri. This is useful to see how much money you need to pay in tax to the relevant governments.

To do this:

1. Go to the ‘Cart’ section of Convertri.
2. Then in the left hand menu, select ‘Orders’.
3. Then select the product from the list.
4. Then click on the product card within the order details.
5. This will display the order details for that order and will show you a breakdown of the total payment, including the exact amount of tax paid on the product.
